Education Events Check out our full Education schedule through April, now available online.
We have seats available next week for:

To register for classes online click on the "Education Events!" icon when reading our newsletter, or simply visit our webpage at www.scaor.com. At our website, click on "Members" then "Class/Event Registration" for a complete list of classes.

This is a great opportunity for resident licensees to get their credits early. Thirty-four classes are scheduled including quadrennial NAR Ethics training. REALTORS® must take the ethics training at least once every four years to retain their membership with NAR. Failure to complete the training is considered a violation of a membership duty for which REALTOR® membership is suspended until the required training is completed. Training for this four-year cycle must be completed by December 31, 2008.

Non-resident licensees must complete 15 credit hours of continuing education no later than April 30, 2007. Delaware currently accepts elective continuing education credits approved by the Maryland Commission exclusive of any course relating specifically to Maryland laws.

"Providing health insurance for all Americans working for small businesses or as independent contractors is a priority for NAR, and we are pleased to see that President Bush has made access to affordable coverage a cornerstone of his 2007 agenda," said NAR President Pat Vredevoogd Combs. President Bush announced his health plan initiative in his State of the Union speech, which he delivered to a joint session of Congress on January 23.

With nearly 30 percent of its 1.3 million members unable to obtain affordable health insurance, NAR is committed to working with the President and Congress to get small business health insurance legislation enacted as quickly as possible. "The President has taken a step forward in laying out his health coverage plan, which includes language that will allow small businesses to pool together, strengthen their buying power and cross state lines. There are many details to iron out and differing view points to be addressed, but the good news is the real work starts now," said Combs. For more on NAR's health insurance efforts, click here.

SAFETY ON THE ROAD

"The 10 Second Rule"
Inattention is one of the main reasons people find themselves in dangerous situations. Take a few precious seconds during the course of your day to assess your surroundings.

Take 2 Seconds when you arrive at your destination.

  • Is there any questionable activity in the area?
  • Are you parked in a well-lit, visible location?
  • Can you be blocked in the driveway by a prospect's vehicle?

Take 2 Seconds after you step out of your car.

  • Are there suspicious people around?
  • Do you know exactly where you're going?

Take 2 Seconds as you walk towards your destination.

  • Are people coming and going or is the area unusually quiet?
  • Do you observe any obstacles or hiding places in the parking lot or along the street?
  • Is anyone loitering in the area?

Take 2 Seconds at the door.

  • Do you have an uneasy feeling as you're walking in?
  • Is someone following you in?

Take 2 Seconds as soon as you enter your destination.

  • Does anything seem out of place?
  • Is anyone present who shouldn't be there or who isn't expected?

10 Seconds TOTAL

Taking in your surroundings lets you spot and avoid danger. Make it a habit. Then share it with someone else.
