Our current education schedule is now available. To register for classes online click here or simply visit our webpage at www.scaor.com. Click on "Members" then "Class/Event Registration" for a complete list of classes. This is a great opportunity for resident licensees to get their credits early.

Non-resident licensees must complete 15 credit hours of continuing education no later than April 30, 2007. Delaware currently accepts elective continuing education credits approved by the Maryland Commission exclusive of any course relating specifically to Maryland laws.

AFFILIATE SPONSORSHIPS AVAILABLE

SCAOR is offering more sponsorship opportunities for our Affiliates. You may sponsor an educational class and showcase your business with the students before class begins. By sponsoring the morning or afternoon snacks, you may introduce yourself and distribute company information for the cost of $25 per session. We ask that you volunteer to sponsor only one education class at this time to give everyone the opportunity to get involved. For more information, please contact Barbara at the SCAOR office at 302-855-2300.

David Lereah, Chief Economist for NAR, shares his insight and the facts about subprime and Alt-A mortgages. What is their effect on our industry? How do we help our customers navigate and choose from the myriad conventional products like fixed rate and traditional ARMs, and responsible nontraditional mortgages and hybrid choices for those who can properly afford them? For a thorough overview, as well as REALTOR® and consumer resource links, and the reform messages we are conveying to Congress, click here >>

Agenda is now online at REALTOR.org.

BLOOD DRIVE SCHEDULED FOR MAY 1ST AT SCAOR

King Tut Sign up today by calling 1-888-8-Blood-8; make sure to mention SCAOR when signing up for this life saving event!

HELP SAVE SOMEONE'S LIFE. . .
When you give blood, you may be helping to save the life of an accident victim, a cancer patient, or someone having heart surgery. With just one donation, your blood could help up to four patients. One out of every ten people who enters a hospital needs some kind of blood product. There is no way to manufacture blood outside of the human body. So we must rely on volunteer blood donors to provide the blood that's needed in hospitals everyday. Please help keep your community blood supply strong.

Every day in this area, 350 blood donors are needed. If you were in an accident today and needed blood transfusions, would you be covered for blood replacement fees at a local hospital? If you are a member of the Blood Bank of Delmarva, you're covered. If you were not a member, you would have to pay those fees, or find replacement blood donors. Become a Blood Bank member today. And please support the Blood Bank by giving blood...

  • One of every 10 people entering a hospital needs blood.
  • There is no substitute for human blood.
  • Every year, the need for blood rises, but the number of eligible donors drops.
  • A heart surgery patient uses an average of six pints of red cells and six pints of platelets.
  • Cancer and leukemia patients need platelets to help them during chemotherapy treatments.
  • The average red cell transfusion is 3.4 pints.
  • Severe burn victims can need 20 pints of platelets during their treatment.
  • Only 3-5 percent of the adult population eligible to give blood actually does.
  • Before we reach age 72, nearly 95% of us will need a blood transfusion.
  • Over 20,000 patients in Delaware and on Maryland's Eastern Shore will need blood this year.
  • To give blood, one must be 17 or older; weigh at least 110 pounds; be in general good health; and have no tattoos or body piercings in the past 12 months.
  • Most women have between 7 and 9 pints of blood in their bodies; men have between 10 and 12 pints of blood in their bodies.
  • One donation of blood can help up to three patients.
  • Giving blood does not decrease your strength.
  • If all blood donors gave just twice a year, it would greatly strengthen the nation's blood supply.
  • Every three seconds, someone needs blood in the U.S.

The REALTOR® Community Service Committee will once again offer the grant program to assist the needy of Sussex County. The grant guidelines and application forms are available at www.scaor.com. If you missed these workshops all is not lost; there are similar free workshops planned in Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. There will also be a workshop in conjunction with the 2007 Delaware GIS Conference (Serving Communities), though that workshop is not free.

ON THE SAFE SIDE

Each week we will be covering a portion of the "MLS Rules and Regulations." To be on the SAFE SIDE, please review the rules each week to eliminate errors in the system which could lead to MLS violations and fines. These rules and regulations have been submitted and reviewed by NAR and are in full compliance with National Association policy.

FAILURE TO CORRECT VIOLATIONS (a-m)

The correction must be made within 48 hours of the notification and verification. If the correction cannot be made by the Participant, they must call the SCAOR office to correct. The minimum fine for these violations is $25. After the third fine within the calendar year (January 1 - December 31), subsequent fines will increase to $100 per incident. The fines are per office Participant, not per office agent.

SEARCH TIPS

Have you ever had problems searching for a particular listing after entering the street address? The system searches only for what the agent tells it to search. Therefore, if you are searching for property on "Smith Road" simply search by "Smith". This will bring up all variations such as drive, parkway, etc. Agents input listings differently such as "road", Rd., street, St., etc.
