![]() This article stems from a recent complaint that I heard about from a REALTOR®, who had a Buyer wanting an investment property with rental income attached. ![]() REALTOR.com, NAR's official property listing web site, is launching several web site enhancements, including more property photos with listings (from 6 to 25), REALTOR® blogs, and showcasing listings with mapping and satellite imaging. The new features, which are currently being rolled out, are expected to be completely available this month. REALTOR.com will also be offering neighborhood information, advanced search capabilities, and a search gadget (or widget), so that consumers can have a photo slideshow of available listings, continually updating and matchng their search critera, playing on their computer desktops. Standard of Practice 14-1 ![]() NAR's forward-looking Pending Home Sales Index shows existing-home sales may ease but should stay fairly close to present levels in the months ahead. The Pending Home Sales Index, based on contracts signed in May, rose in the West and Northeast, while falling in the Midwest and South. The national index stood at 97.7, dropping 13.3 percent from a 112.7 reading a year earlier. Lawrence Yun, NAR's senior economist, says housing activity continues to be impacted by tighter lending criteria and a lack of buyer confidence. "Some transactions are being postponed from mortgage market disruptions," he says. "But better supervised lending will put housing in a fundamentally healthier state over the long term." ![]()

![]() Legislation introduced last week on Capitol Hill would create a National Affordable Housing Fund for the building, rehabilitation, and preservation of affordable homes and rental units. The bill, "National Affordable Housing Trust Fund Act of 2007," H.R. 2895, would make funds available for rental housing and down payment and closing cost assistance for low-income people. "Sadly, the stock of affordable rental units is rapidly declining and the difficulty of finding affordable homes to buy is increasing," NAR President Pat V. Combs says. "This fund can have an immediate impact for many families." NAR pledged its support of the bill in a letter to Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), chair of the House Financial Services Committee.
