THE MOST FUN YOU WILL EVER HAVE SHOPPING
Join Us to Shop for the Kids on this Tuesday, November 27

The RCS Committee and the SCAOR Community Foundation need your help! We will shop for the needy children this Tuesday morning, November 27 at the K-Mart in Rehoboth starting at 7 a.m..

Check out the flyer!   Share it with your office mates and family. We need plenty of shoppers for this huge project of helping others.

Again, a huge THANK YOU to all who donated auction items, sponsored, and attended this year's SCAOR Annual RCS Auction! RE/MAX Realty Group in Rehoboth won the "Most Creative Basket" for the auction this year. Their basket was titled "Football Fanatics" which included tickets to a Redskins/Eagles game. The basket raised $6,000 although the decision was not based on the amount raised. The committee just made this decision at their last meeting. There were many baskets in the running! See the full listing of basket winners here >>

If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services. Whatever your thoughts on the war, our servicemembers need our support. Please take a minute to thank them for their service.

There are many committees to choose from, tailored to the needs and interests of our membership and community!

Education
Equal Opportunity (Diversity)
Government Affairs
Grievance
Political Fund Raising
Professional Standards
REALTOR® Community Service (RCS)
Rental Affairs
Risk Reduction/Bylaws
Rookies (less than 3 REALTOR® years)

We will try to accommodate as many requests as possible; however, some committees are limited in size. Volunteer names will be submitted to the Board of Directors for approval. Thank you for your interest!

The Diversity Committee's "Housing Summit" has received many positive comments and reviews from the participants as well as local press. In fact, an encore or sequel has been requested; therefore, we will move ahead with another program in June of 2008. The Diversity Committee will celebrate its first year in January.

Procuring Cause

As professionals, none of us want to be in conflict with each other. Yet, it sometimes happens, especially in the area of procuring cause of a real estate sale. Don't know what that is?

HINT: IT MAY AFFECT COMMISSION.

I trust that the provided information will help you avoid conflict and know how to resolve any matter amicably >>

ETHICALLY SPEAKING...

Standard of Practice 17-5
The obligation to arbitrate established in Article 17 includes disputes between REALTORS® (principals) in different states in instances where, absent an established inter-association arbitration agreement, the REALTOR® (principal) requesting arbitration agrees to submit to the jurisdiction of, travel to, participate in, and be bound by any resulting award rendered in arbitration conducted by the respondent(s) REALTOR®'s association, in instances where the respondent(s) REALTOR®'s association determines that an arbitrable issue exists. (Adopted 1/07)

MLS COMMITTEE

We frequently hear, "How do I get on the MLS Committee?" The MLS Committee is governed by the SCAOR By-Laws which explain the 12 member Committee must have a specific composition of Brokers of Record (designated REALTORS®), Brokers, and agents. We must ensure a balance in several different areas. Additionally, experience with MLS and other technology is extremely important. Members are appointed in staggered terms since knowledge and continuity are critical for the success of the MLS Operations. Members must be willing to work many hours beyond the meetings to accomplish the business. We will post vacancies and recruit for this committee separately from other committee recruitment.

ON THE SAFE SIDE

To be on the SAFE SIDE, please review the MLS Rules and Regulations to eliminate errors in the system that could lead to MLS violations and fines. To print out a copy of the rules, simply click on "standard forms" in InnoVia. Click on "2005 MLS fine system-rev07-04.pdf" for a complete list of MLS violations and fines associated with them. For the latest version of the MLS Rules and Regulations, click on "2007 MLS Rules.pdf." These rules and regulations have been submitted and reviewed by NAR and are in full compliance with National Association policy.

MOST FREQUENT MLS VIOLATIONS:
Tips on How NOT to Be an Offender
If you are using a combo lock, DO NOT put the combo # in the PUBLIC remarks. You may only use combo locks if your office did not opt in to Sentrilock.

No agent info or phone #s are allowed in PUBLIC remarks, or on virtual tours. Real estate signs are NOT ALLOWED in photos.

Disclosures are to be uploaded within 48 hours of a listing being entered in the MLS. Use the very easy, fax to pdf function on the bottom of the home page of InnoVia to upload disclosures.
