The Sussex County Association of REALTORS® will have a General Membership meeting on June 19, 2008 at 8:30 am in the Cheer Center, Georgetown. Breakfast will be provided. To ensure a seat and breakfast, please RSVP by using the registration link. All REALTOR® members have also received an additional meeting notice including notice of proposed amendments to the by-laws and the need to VOTE on the proposed amendments. The entire draft of the By-laws has also been mailed to each Broker of Record with SCAOR membership. Please note, this meeting is for Sussex County Association REALTOR® members and not MLS only members.

NAR CODE OF ETHICS Between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2008, every REALTOR® is required to complete 2.5 hours of Code of Ethics training. REALTORS® who have completed this training as a requirement of membership in another association are not required to complete additional ethics training until the next four year cycle. All agents must complete the quadrennial training on NAR Code of Ethics by the end of December 2008. If you have not already taken this training since January 1, 2005, you may do so online by Clicking Here. Plan ahead and avoid being terminated for lacking this mandatory requirement!

How do you think the Professional Standards Panel ruled in last week's Case Study? Below is the Hearing Panel's decision.

Case #11-10: REALTOR^®'s Obligation to Disclose Present or Contemplated Interests

The Hearing Panel concluded that REALTOR^® B's defense was specious and because he was the listing agent REALTOR^® B was biased in favor of Client A since a successful transaction would benefit REALTOR^® B in the form of a commission.

REALTOR^® B was found in violation of Article 11.
