2 Weeks from Today!
Friday evening, September 5

Celebrate another summer flown by as we recognize there is strength in numbers as REALTORS®. Sip on margaritas while listening to the Steel Drum band, munch on scrumptious pizza, fruit and popcorn, race a ducky for RPAC, and let the kids play in the lifeguarded waterpark. You can splish splash around too and enjoy bashing your favorite agents in the bumper boats.

Waddle you waiting for?

Join us at Jungle Jim's
by buying your duckie now!

Families and Friends Welcome!

WHO WILL WIN THE OFFICE RACE?

Long & Foster - Rehoboth is currently leading the flock with most donors AND donations. Running almost bill-to-bill is Jack Lingo - Millsboro, then rounding the river bend is Coldwell Banker - Bethany. Callaway, Farnell & Moore and Sperry Van Ness are also in the chase, a few duck lengths behind. Be in the race too. All racers are winners, helping fight for homeownership and REALTOR® friendly legislation.

Changes to MLS Rules and new MLS Waiver Form
The MLS Committee, with the approval of the SCAOR Board of Directors, has revised the existing form used to notify the MLS of the seller's refusal for the listing to be disseminated through SCAOR MLS.

The MLS rules have required a "listing waiver" be completed and sent to the Association office within 48 hours of the listing date along with a copy of the listing. The revised form is found on Innovia as SCAOR MLS Listing Waiver.

Please ensure you promptly submit the forms to our office in a timely manner. Violations of this rule have a significant fine of $1,000.00. It is to everyone's benefit to have the listing waivers on file should a concern arise.

Also available on Innovia are newly revised MLS rules that include Section 1.18: Required Attachments and Section 17 for reciprocal key card usage.

We appreciate your attention and use of the new forms. Please do not hesitate to contact me with your concerns or questions.

Sincerely,

Ruth Briggs King
Executive Vice President.

ETHICALLY SPEAKING...Our Duties to Other REALTORS®

How do you think the Professional Standards Panel ruled in last week's Case Study? Below is the Hearing Panel's decision.

17-2: Dispute Between REALTORS® In Different Boards

REALTOR® B was advised that since both Grievance Committees had determined the matter was arbitrable and mandatory that interboard arbitration was being scheduled to hear the dispute. The Board of Directors concluded that his action in filing suit was not in itself violation of Article 17 but advised REALTOR® B that if he failed to withdraw from the suit and participate in the interboard arbitration, he could be found in violation of Article 17.

This week's topic is Advertising Other Brokers' Listings.

Over the past several months, we've had both inquiries and complaints about agents advertising listings other than their own via newsletters, flyers, and other forms of written communication.

Let's try to resolve this issue >>
