ETHICALLY SPEAKING... Our Duties to the Public
How do you think the Professional Standards Panel ruled in last week's Case Study?
Below is the Hearing Panel's decision.
Case #12-20: Misleading Use of "MLS" in URL
The hearing panel disagreed with REALTOR® Z's reasoning. While REALTOR® Z's website included information about other participants' listings that the MLS had provided-and that REALTOR® Z was authorized to display-the fact remained that a real estate-related URL that included the letters MLS would lead reasonable consumers to conclude that the website would be an MLS's, and not a broker's website. REALTOR® Z was found in violation of Article 12 as interpreted by Standard of Practice 12-10.

HEALTHCARE BILLS PASSED BY SENATE AND HOUSE
The US Senate passed its version of Health Reform legislation on Christmas Eve morning, December 24. Efforts are underway to reconcile the bills passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate. The final bill will need to be approved by the House and the Senate before being sent to the President, upon which time it would become effective. Please read details at realtor.org >>
A summary of each of the bills and their provisions is now available on the NAR healthcare page on REALTOR.org. It includes a side-by-side comparison chart as well as the cost budget analysis from the Congressional Budget Office.
