Daylight Savings Time

The United States Congress adopted the Energy Policy Act of 2005 in which the Uniform Time Act of 1966 was amended to officially change Daylight Savings Time in 2007 to start the second Sunday in March instead of the first Sunday in April.

Your lockbox system observes Daylight Savings Time when determining access time restrictions to showing properties. Lockbox owners accessing their own listings are not affected by showing time restrictions.

If you renewed your SentriCard on or after 3/6/07, an update to the Daylight Savings Time calculation has already been loaded to your SentriCard. As you visit your lockboxes, the new information will be loaded into the lockbox and the lockbox will observe the new DST rules.

In the event you have not visited your lockbox(es) since the DST update, the lockbox will continue to use the pre-2007 DST rules. This means that if your Association doesn't allow showings before 8:00 a.m. local time, during the three-week period between March 11th and April 1st, no showings will be allowed until 9:00 a.m. local time due to "springing forward" one hour. It also means showings will be allowed one hour LATER in the day as well.

If you wish to update your lockboxes, simply renew your SentriCard and then insert your card in each lockbox you own. You will hear a "chirp" indicating the update has completed successfully.
