Another year has come and is almost gone. And what a year it has been!

We kept hearing about the new Agency law and before we knew it, it had become law. We quickly responded to the new way we were to do business by attending the training classes offered by our Board. We adopted the CIS form, but worried "it wouldn't work". It's been in existence for awhile now and implementation is happening, albeit slowly. Then we were introduced to another new Disclosure form, the Radon Disclosure. That was an easy form to digest because it showed up in our new State Sales Contract which had been in the works for a long time.

The needy children of Sussex County were once again made happy because of the tremendous efforts of the RCS Committee and your generosity at the REALTOR^®'s auction.

We honored the REALTOR^® of the Year and the Rental Associate of the Year. And just recently the leadership of our Board changed from the very capable hands of Rob Harman to the equally capable hands of Bill Lucks.

Property inventory continues to rise, and the number of buyers seems to continue to dwindle. And perhaps because of the state of our real estate market, we are finding that we're not being as nice to each other as we should under the Golden Rule.

It is important to remember that even though we are competitors, we are also partners. It takes a team to list a property, get it sold, and then bring it to settlement. That team consists of a Seller, a Buyer, a Listing Company and Agent, and a Selling Company and Agent. Isn't it true that teamwork produces results, while dissention creates chaos? Isn't it easier to work together instead of fighting with each other?

So at this special time, this beginning of the new year, when we all make new resolutions,
let's resolve:

• to help each other,
• to teach each other,
• to keep the number of Professional Standards complaints to a minimum,
• to cooperate with each other, and
• to consider us, one and all, as "partners".

Let's make SCAOR an organization that truly lives by the Golden Rule.
